Introduction to the production process of fiberglass tubes

There are three main types of glass fiber tube production processes: reciprocating filament winding process, continuous filament winding process and centrifugal casting process.

Reciprocating wire winding process (belonging to the fixed-length method): In this process, the dipping tank reciprocates with the rotating mandrel, the long glass fiber filaments are placed at a certain oblique angle relative to the axis of the mandrel, and the auxiliary angle (ie the winding angle) is determined by The ratio of the moving speed of the dipping tank to the rotational speed of the mandrel is controlled, and the translational movement of the dipping tank is controlled by computerized electromechanics. The winding layer is gradually increased until the designed wall thickness is reached. After winding, the resin in the product is basically solidified. After solidification, the mandrel is removed from the FRP pipe.

Continuous filament winding process (belonging to continuous process): In this process, the tube passes through a feeding station to supply a mixture of resin prepreg roving, chopped glass fiber reinforced plastic and resin sand, and the tube is in continuous advancement of the mandrel production.

Centrifugal casting process (belonging to the fixed-length method): In this process, the cut glass fiber reinforcement and sand are sent into the steel mold fixed on the bearing, and unsaturated resin with catalyst is injected into one end of the steel mold, The reinforcement is impregnated, and under the action of centrifugal force, the resin displaces the air in the fibers and filler, resulting in a dense composite material without pores. Due to the action of centrifugal force, a smooth and bright resin-rich inner surface layer is formed on the inner wall of the pipe. The pipe made by this method is also called FRP sand pipe.

At present, there are more manufacturers using the reciprocating filament winding process to manufacture pipes than the other two production processes. One of the reasons is that the FRP pipes manufactured by the reciprocating filament winding process have a wider range of applications and better applicability.
